WaterWorks 2014 300The ERA-NET Cofund WaterWorks2014 was launched in 2014 in support of the Water JPI. It is funded by the EC under Horizon 2020.

WaterWorks2014 aims at tackling European water challenges through the development of transnational and trans-disciplinary research and innovation actions.

WaterWorks2014 addresses the specific challenge of integrating the efforts and Strategic Agendas of many European Water Research and Innovation Funding Organisations.

SustainableCities Water BCN 350High-profile speakers from the United States, the Middle East, and Europe featured in an International Conference on Sustainable Cites for Water, which took place in Barcelona on 20 February 2015.

The aim was to promote and develop sustainable practices related to water management and exchange knowledge and experiences concerning water management within different varying regions.

Belge parliament 350A one-day seminar for young people aged 15 - 19 will be held at the Brussels Regional Parliament on 20 March 2015. The seminar will include a workshop session on Climate Change and Policy where BeWater Consortium partner Murray Biedler will lead activities based the EU Policy evaluation work carried out in the frame of the BeWater project.

RmelA challenge, but also an opportunity, of the BeWater Project is how to promote the adaptive water management approach for water basins. This involves integrating scientific thinking with sociological considerations to tackle the alarming global change projections pointing to increasing water scarcity and drought in the Mediterranean.

BeWater promotes dialogue and collaboration between science and society, aiming for adaptation to the global change impacts; it is putting into process a transition from a technologically-focused river basin management approach to a stakeholder driven, bottom-up process ensuring social empowerment and joint responsibility.

December 12th in the afternoon, at the Domus Sent Soví in Hostalric BeWater held a new workshop.

This session applied an innovative methodology proposed by this European project, which is also implemented in other 3 different Mediterranean countries: Slovenia, Cyprus and Tunisia. BeWater project uses an iterative process for mutual learning in order to guarantee that local actors have an active role in the definition of suitable strategies for river basin management.

SIS Rome 250Rome hosted an international event on science, innovation and society from 19 - 21 November, to promote dialogue and close cooperation between science and society stakeholders.

Participants had the opportunity to engage with high-level speakers on issues revolving around 6 key areas: public engagement, gender equality, science education, ethics, open science and governance.
