BeWater Project and Citizen Science
BeWater was represented at the second edition of the Barcelona Citizen Science Day, which took place in Barcelona, Spain on 16 April 2015. The meeting is part of NOVUM (Barcelona Science, Technology and Innovation Festival) organised by the Direction of Creativity and Innovation, Barcelona Culture Institute (Barcelona City Council). Participants included researchers, students, science communicators, civic actors and decision makers as well as citizens interested in citizen science.
Annelies Broekman, Tordera Case Study Leader and Anabel Sánchez, BeWater Project Coordinator, attended the event and gave a presentation on behalf of the BeWater Project. The organizers created a graphical report in which BeWater was represented and produced a Catalogue of Citizen Science with 20 projects, where it was also featured.
This 2015 edition, in contrast to 2014, has focused on proposals around transversal tools and methodologies applicable to the majority of citizen science projects. The event ended with a speech from Liz Barry, founder of Public Lab, a DIY environmental science community, pioneer in its sector based in New York.
The Catalogue of Citizen Science projects is already published and is available on-line in Catalan and English.
