BeWater presented at the V Mediterranean Forest Week

Thursday, 30 March 2017 Posted in Events, News, BeWater News

MDF new 350BeWater developed a replicable, participatory approach on how society can play a meaningful role alongside science in the development of adaptive solutions to global change.  In the framework of the V Mediterranean Forest Week, Inazio Martínez de Arano (EFIMED), Sihem Jebari (INRGREF) and Eduard Pla (CREAF) presented the EU funded project to the Mediterranean forest research community, policy-makers and other relevant stakeholders.

Inazio Martínez de Arano, Head of EFIMED, opened the BeWater side-event giving an overview of the innovative BeWater participatory approach. INRGREF and CREAF researchers Sihem Jebari and Eduard Pla presented the Rmel and Tordera river basins, the lessons learned and their views for the future.

BeWater has facilitated collaboration between science and society that has led to the publication of a handbook documenting the participatory approach used in developing adaptive management plans for river basins. In addition, this handbook was handed to all the participants of the session.
