The Adaptation Futures conference aimed to move climate change adaptation forward by promoting solutions across sectors, borders and communities. The state of art of adaptation strategies and methods presented throughout the conference revealed a strong diversity of approaches, combining innovative technologies and nature-based solutions with more governance related processes. The need for better natural resource management strategies was stressed, focusing on the central role of citizen participation and innovative governance practices.

Special attention was dedicated to exchange experiences between participants working to overcome the difficulties related to monitoring the effectiveness and impact of adaptation measures, as well as the development of climate change related data.

Anabel Sanchez, presented the approach developed within BeWater for the elaboration of River Basin Adaptation Plans and the main project features in the conference session on “Fresh water availability and access: guidelines and methodologies”.

The final results of the conference will be published shortly.
